The Spirit Bares Its Teeth brought me to tears and I loved every moment of reading it. Much like White's debut novel, I felt unable to put this down until I finished it and it tugged at my heartstrings with every turn of the plot. I LOVE to see autistic trans guy rep, and my own experiences with sanism made me feel emotional in the best way about Silas in this novel. The ending felt so sweet and open to interpretations of what our protagonists do afterwards- and I for one hope they're burning down the speaker society. fuck the speakers.

I don't know why i haven't dnf-ed this. It is so graphic in its cruelty against female bodies and everyone besides white cis males. And I'm not sure why I should endure this, where does it help, what does it change. So much torture, so much pain. I feel like I need a shower.

The ending is so full of violence and revenge and rage - and tho I do get it, it felt really bad and left me kinda disgusted.I longend for a better 'solution' for more justice. Cause it is fiction, it could have given us that. Killing everyone who inflicts harm and misuses their power is not ending the systemic violence.
