Middlegame, the first book in this series (?), was one of my favorite books I read last year. This companion novel just throws you into the deep end with the alchemy and the science and the abstract concepts. It makes absolutely no sense, but it somehow works. I really can’t describe the plot of this book because I definitely did not grasp it fully. But I just love the complex world the author built. It’s a long book, but it’s a page-turner and I guarantee you will have no idea where the story is going to take you

I love her writing it's just amazing, i have to say though that i didn't like vary much the ending, i think that the sisters should have had a better closure but beside that it's an amazing book

Oof, so disappointing compared to Middlegame. I'll always enjoy Seanan McGuire's writing but the story and characters just weren't very compelling for me and the pacing was quite strange and almost felt like the structure of a zodiac academy book.😱
