It's been a long time since I was so caught up in a book. I should have left my house 3 hours ago. I tried to fight it, but finally gave in deciding I wouldn't be torturing myself by going to work with another unfinished book.
That's a lie, the book decided for me. Book finished and I'm not even a little sorry

This is the first book in a beauty and the beast retelling. I absolutely loved it. I don't usually read retellings, but I'm so glad I didn't let that keep me from reading it, as this is so much more.

There is sex, a lot of it, but there's so much more. That's the word that keeps screaming at me, more. This book is a lot of things, but mostly, it's just more. More of everything I didn't know I needed.

This book had a lot more explicit content than I was expecting and I can't tell if it was good or bad. The chemistry between our two MCs was great, but the side characters unnecessarily made everything sexual. It was meant to be shocking and comedic, which it was in the beginning, but then that's all they ever brought up. They had no other dialogue except to make sexual jokes that just got old.

I'll say a good 3.5 or 3.75 on this one.... It started out a bit ... slowish? But what dropped the rating down the most is the FMC and her childish type of talking/thinking. The language/choice of words... it all just is so immature for a 20+ year old person?

I will continue the series however, and hope that the dialogue gets better as I do like the premise of the story and there has been a bit of steaminess so far.

The idea of this book had me very interested! I liked the characters and was very invested in the romance and the side characters were pretty funny. Overall, though this series was just okay.

Q: What would you do if you could save someone but ruin yourself in the process?

The beast. The creature that stalks the forbidden wood. The dragon prince. He has suffered a fate worse than death. We all have. A curse put upon us by the mad king. We are a kingdom locked in time. Shifters unable to feel our animals. Stuck here by a deal between the late king and a demon who seeks our destruction. The only one keeping this kingdom alive is Nyfain, the golden prince to a stolen throne. The last dragon shifter. He's our hope. He's my nightmare. When he catches me trespassing in the forbidden wood, he doesn't punish me with death, as he's entitled. He takes me, instead. Forces me back to the castle as his prisoner. Seeks to use me. Apparently, I can save him. I can save the whole forgotten kingdom, locked away by the demon king's power. But it would mean taming the monster beneath his skin. It would mean giving myself to him. It would mean my ruin.

I have conflicting thoughts on this book. Some parts of it I really enjoyed (the bits where there was an actual storyline) and parts I did not. To me there was so much unnecessary dialogue and world building. So much so that it got confusing and distracted from the plot and the main point of the book. The male MC was very possessive and changed his mind about what he wanted so many times that it was almost like the female MC’s feelings/emotions were a game to him. Despite this, will I still read the next two in the series because I own them? Yes, yes I will. For me it was 3 stars.
