I keep going back to this one I can't really explain how much I love it
Maybe 2.5 stars...
I know everyone loved this book but I just didn't. Not at all. Sure I finished it b/c I had to know what happened as well as Ty's story.
Short of Ty getting caught to save her life, he didn't have anything redeeming in my eyes.
I just didn't care for Ty, so I couldn't pull for him. At. All.

Beautiful, emotional, and deeply moving! I absolutely loved it!
I still want more!

3 stars plus because I’m kind of appalled at how much I sympathized with Ty by the end of the book. Well done, author.
But so much was unexplained (e.g. passport) and left unknown (deliberately? Maybe). I dunno.

I will fight anyone who says Gemma and Ty shouldn't be together
Update: now that I’m much older and have reread this book I retract the statement above.
Do I no longer think they should be together? Yes. But do I still wish they could have lived out in the desert happy for a bit longer? Also yes. And do I still think that I would develop Stockholm syndrome at a very fast pace? Very much so yes

16-year old Gemma is drugged and abducted from a Bangkok airport while on vacation with her parents. Her captor spirits her away to a shack in the middle of the Australian outback, where there's nothing and no one else for hundreds of miles. He's young and attractive. He doesn't rape her, hurt her, or threaten her. He just won't let her leave, and if she could escape, she wouldn't get far. What's more, she feels she knows him from...somewhere. Who is this strange man? Is there any way to escape? Does she even want to?
This was really well-written. I didn't notice any clunky prose or lazy characterization that you often see in these types of books. The conflict was realistic and I was satisfied with the ending. The description of the desert, plants and animals and atmosphere, was evocative and wondeful. Don't want to spoil it, but I was happy that despite the fact that the kidnapper was like, Edward Cullen levels of creepy, this isn't allowed to turn into that kind of romance.
I would definitely recommend this book to all types of teens.

I read this book in middle school (probably shouldn’t have) and just finished rereading as an adult. I flew through it for a second time and still enjoyed it. The premise is gross and beyond messed up, but still a good read.
This is my new favorite book. It was much different than anything I have ever read. I cried at the end and was so sad when it finished. I literally just finished the book 5 minutes ago. I definitely recommend this books to others.
