Was not expecting how hard a hitter this would be when it was so short. But that didn’t make me enjoy it any less. I loved Galatea’s voice and cunning and love, her relationship and growth along with her daughter, and it was incredibly bittersweet but satisfying how things ended.
Madeline Miller continues with Galatea where the myth Pygmalion by Ovid left off and shows the realistic ending of that story. She creates a visually powerful feminist work that not only resurrects ancient mythology, but also echoes works like "The Yellow Wallpaper". The only thing keeping me from five stars is the problem I have with most short stories, I want more!
