This is the third book I've read by Forster and I definitely agree that this is his best work. It's sweeping and captures the class dynamics of the time perfectly. Just a delightful read.

This was a great classic that highlighted class and male entitlement, hypocrisy, the stirrings of females wanting change in England, and the frustrations in the face of resistance. This book is very self-aware of these themes and entwines them within most interactions and conversations. But it is also very much about places and how these places and houses are so important and impactful to people their lives and their hopes and dreams. This was very engaging for me. Beautifully written and interesting, it's a 4.25 for me as the 'drama/interest' only really occurred in the last couple of chapters and felt rushed and it dragged a little in places. Also, it never tells you what happens to Jackie, the ability to just forget a person regardless of being responsible for their circumstances is very entitled but the author doesn't mention this. It's very much a snapshot of life and a character study, where my personal preference is for a bit more plot. But I enjoyed it and will look at other Forster books.
