3.5 stars for the book itself and an extra .5 stars for the audiobook narration by the author. Despite dealing with a lot of heavy topics, this whole story was super cute! There were times where certain events felt a little too convenient, but it’s a YA so im not gonna harp on that too much. You can tell this story is personal for the author, and she did a great job in telling it (definitely got me to cry once or twice)

Val spends a lot of time finding words to the feelings and deconstruction she’s had. And is surprisingly ahead with religious deconstruction. This is where I felt the most struggle with the book. 

Otherwise, the book is very sweet with the romance between her and Riley and finding herself in the process
