This would have been a 4 star if the beginning had been has intriguing as the ending but I felt like it dragged a lot at first. I'm also not a huge fan of YA so some of the language/writing style just wasn't for me but it was still a really good message!

I didn't expect this book about a "Christian" cult to resonate as much as it did, but wow! 😯 I love that Casey McQuiston's "One Last Stop" is featured in this book (with a subtle nod to the narrator 😆) and the emphasis on chosen family.
Graphic: Child abuse, Emotional abuse, Homophobia, Religious bigotry, Outing
Moderate: Body shaming, Misogyny, Racism, Toxic relationship, Xenophobia, Cultural appropriation

- overall I enjoyed
- some overuse of some words "beautiful, perfect, warm"
- kind of wished for a bit more friendship with the librarian
- poor Hannah
- those grandparents must be rich
- repetitive at times (probably felt worse being an audiobook)
- also the narrator (Natalie naudus) was good but was overall sultry at times on words like "good" 👀
