I'm sure this was a very cathartic thing to write, and I imagine that it would be a touching read for anyone from a similar background. That said, I thought the writing was a bit too expository and the plot too ideal. The barriers or conflicts never held much weight because there was always a convenient work-around. Maybe it was also a bit too fast-paced. A slower burn between the love interests might've made it more meaningful/believable. I also am not a big YA person in my adulthood. But I've followed the author on Tiktok for years now, and I've listened to a number of her narration, so I thought it ought to read her book.

Very fun, quick listen on audiobook. Although perhaps not the most realistic, this story has a lot of depth knowing the author wrote this based on personal experience. Very cool to read through the lens of someone processing their own childhood, I’ll be thinking about this book for a while.
