It's been a solid 8 years since I had read this books and it's so good. I understand now why 12 year old me was so attached to Jason

I went into this book not knowing if I would like it because I was on the fence with the Percy Jackson series.
I love the representation in this book. Especially for a book written in 2012. I think the most interesting thing was Leo. I like how we got to see his thoughts. I think many people could identify with him. He isn’t sure of himself or his purpose and he is jealous of Jason. Many teenagers do have thoughts like him. I also love how good of a friend Leo is. It makes me wonder what it would be like if Harry Potter had a Ron POV. It is clear how much thought Riordan puts into every character.
I didn’t notice this in the Percy series but I noticed it here. I don’t understand how the characters automatically know languages and stuff. I think it would be more interesting if the kids at Half-Blood camp went to school and had to learn things like that. I know many characters have super powers, for lack of a better word, but I don’t know where a language would fit into that.
Either way I am excited to read the next one and see what characters are in the upcoming books.
