Summary:

In a world where witches, minions, and tainted souls exist, there must also be those that stand against them. These people are known as Weapon Meisters and their Weapons. They are charged with devouring tainted souls and protecting the world.

With one of the strongest kishin out on the loose, it is time to start consolidating power. As such, Death has summoned some of his best Death Scythes back to DWMA. Not only will they be responsible for protecting the students, but they will be called upon to hunt the rising evil in the area.

Review:

Oh! I had forgotten that Soul Eater Vol. 7 is where we finally meet Arachne. It makes sense, moving on from one villainess to the next, right? Interestingly, there's still a bigger bad out in the world. Let's not forget the sudden arrival of so many Death Scythes. Their introductions are limited here, yet there are at least two that we can get a strong feeling for.

Overall, this volume is a lot of fun. We get to see the DWMA students keep on with the good fight, with the addition of a new classmate to mix things up. These plots are balanced out by the plots surrounding the adults (IE, the Death Scythes).

In addition to that, there are several undertones for readers to pick up on. I think that has to be my favorite element of this plot arc. There's so much to read into, making it a deeper read. Plus, theory-crafting can be so much fun.

I really love how Soul Eater gives time to just allow the main cast to be kids

For the most part I enjoyed this volume even if there was more angst than I'm use to in Soul Eater. This volume lost points due to the overwhelming toilet humor. A grown man (Enchanter Saw) making poop references is not funny. It's actually kind of annoying and detracted from an otherwise cool fight scene.

So many new characters, so much more Medusa/Stein shipping material, new evils, new goods Crona and Blackstar (honestly, all the kids) being protective of Maka..
So much is happening all the time, I'm not used to this anymore from reading stuff!

Well despite all the darkness that is going on in this manga right now there is always some sunny beams of light. Bodygaurd Mizune is back! and Angela, even though they are technically villians and fighting Dark-star and really don't want them to lose...
