Unpopular opinion but I enjoyed this book far more than the first. More smut would've pushed it to 4.5 stars

Many people say the book was slower than the first or could have been shorter, but honestly the length didn’t bother me. A lot of the first half of the book was spent on the relationship between the main characters, and it never felt annoying or frustrating for me. Overall I found it as engaging as the first and I am glad they spent the time to flush out the relationship side and give it attention instead of just moving the plot forward.
I also didn’t hate the Jack plot. At first I thought it was too convenient and was disappointed by it, but the end reveals a lot about it that made it make sense to me. People complaining about it being convenient aren’t wrong, but his bloodshot eyes are a good touch and the fact he became what he did does explain how he would have survived

I really enjoyed this book. I was so nervous it was going to be more of a filler book because the first was so action packed and I was worried this wouldn’t keep me as enticed. I was relieved to find that not be the case. This story does provide more insight into the history and lore of the characters and the world, while I know that can be frustrating at times and feel like an info dump, this did not. It developed characters and plot very well. I felt all the all the emotions from tears, anger, betrayal, happiness, surprise, and humor. Oh and anxiety, this kept me on my toes in quite a few chapters. Fourth Wing had more spice for those curious… at least I feel like it did. This didn’t need it to hold its ground as a great book. Rebecca has a really great mind for storytelling and I am excited to see what the next book will show us. I know like many I too was at the end like “what in the world did I just read?!” I’m still processing the story and I can’t keep my mind from going back into that world.

i feel so bad for sgaeyl. 623 pages later and i still only care about the dragons in this book. literally get rid of everyone else and give me a book in adarna’s pov please

also what happened with xaden makes me so annoyed i want to give this book zero stars, but up until the last five pages, i would’ve given the book 3.5-4 stars so here we are

Listen, I love the enemies-to-lovers trope as much as the next guy. I really do!

But… and maybe this is because I’m a big ol’ homeofsexual but…

This one was ok but honestly I think the first book was better. I felt like this one dragged on for too long.
