I loved the Narration of this book. The narrators took me through the streets of Paris and made the whole idea very romantic. Joy and Griffin had such great chemistry that I think was created through their narration.

I am not sure I would have enjoyed this book had I read it. I suspect I would have been skimming some pages had I read the book. Richard Armitage's accent added a kind of magical quality that helped to transport you to the streets of Paris.

The actual storyline was ok. I liked Joy. I liked Griffin. I liked them together. I liked the whole concept of Joy creating perfumes, and even some of the information about how it was done. The whole bucket list concept didn't thrill me, but I did love the realization Griffin ultimately had about the bucket list and Joy's involvement.

I liked that Joy was willing to uproot and take a chance on a new location, with a new language, and a new life. Her enthusiasm could be a bit much at times, but that did not make her unlikable.

Hearing French being spoken added to the romantic feel of the book. I can't say if the accents were on point or not, as I don't speak French. I can say that they sounded good. I would not have been able to get that from reading the book.

I can definitely recommend the audio version of this book. Since book 2 is not in Audible Escapes, I have to decide if I want to purchase it. I actually think I might!

Hellllllo accents!

I honestly don't even remember my last book that had a british accent. I am so sad to say that as well. Ugh, thank god I ran into Wanderlust!

Eh, it was okay. They were both cute and all but it just kind of felt like background noise to me. It doesn't help that work has just been crazy hectic with the coronavirus either. So many freaking urgent orders had to processed - it was just insane guys.

Anyhoo, back to the book. In it, you will meet Joy and she just landed her dream job in Paris. Seriously, been there and loved it. Unlike her, I didn't practice any French speaking.. mostly because I took Spanish. My mother, however, did speak her "French" and I just kind of pointed and asked for that item. Oh lord, when I said coffee with chocolate the guy at Starbucks just laughed and said "AMERICAN?".

Yeah, it's true and yes I gave him a sassy and sarcastic remark.

Back to the book again, not a lot happened in this book. Yes, it gave me all the smuttiness but that's pretty much it. I can tell you that Joy and Griffin had chemistry but I was just bored with it all. They were perfectly boring on my hectic day. Maybe I need to jazz things up and dive into a murder mystery? Or maybe a Netflix series?

Ugh, send help.

This completely romanticizes Paris while also being a fairly accurate portrayal - the language barrier in France is intense. I love the meet cute for these 2 characters that they hit it off before realizing that Griffin has been hired to be Joy's interpreter. I also liked that she had a very STEM profession, even if its being applied to create perfumes instead of some other chemical industry. She makes a ton more money than he does. Both characters were really well developed. Joy is so optimistic, embraces life to the fullest, and is fairly confident about her likes & dislikes. Griffin has this sad part of his past which drives him today and his goals. They both circle around each other until finally giving in, come what may, and the ending was very sweet as well.

Joy is getting out of a years-long relationship with Richard, a guy she was falling out of love with but he hurt his back and she felt compelled to stay with him for another year and it took over her life. After finally breaking up she's taken a transfer at her company to Paris where she wants to start fresh. She's practiced some French but quickly realizes it's not nearly enough to get by - she can barely have everyday conversations let alone the advanced words needed to talk chemistry at her job. Her company hires an interpreter company and Griffin is assigned due to his degree in (marine) biology. Griffin and Joy had met previously at a bakery and then later at a cafe before realizing they needed to maintain a professional relationship. For weeks they do their best to maintain this professionalism until both their friends convince them to live life and go for it.

What follows are really passionate days where they explore Paris and enjoy each other's company. However, Griffin's past means that their time together is short. Griffin's brother Ethan had a car accident that left him paralyzed and he got an infection and died. They were really close and Ethan gave him basically a bucket list of items to complete such as live in Paris, run a marathon in Indonesia, travel the world, etc. As soon as Griffin has enough money he had planned to move to Indonesia to run and from there would travel the world. He tells these plans to Joy and she feels she can't hold him back from his dying brother's wish but she also points out to him what if this list is not filled with Ethan's dying wishes but rather this is a list he made of things that you had wanted to do at the time because he wanted you to keep on living life to the fullest. Griffin dismisses this initially.

The other thing that happens is that Joy gets an offer from her company, she's been doing so well they want her to come back to Texas to head up the whole perfume department! It would be a big move up. But she's just created this new perfume to launch in Paris and she loves living there. Griffin feels he can't ask her to stay since it's her dream job.

Griffin goes to Indonesia and while he's gone Joy has to make her decision whether to stay or go. Without contacting each other, Griffin shows back up on the day she was supposed to leave and admits he can't live without her that he realizes she was right about Ethan's intention for the list. And Joy had made the decision to stay. So they live HAE in her six-story walkup with rooftop terrace looking at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

I couldn't get into this book. I think it might be the story line with translator hitting too close to home.

The cover is really weird. I know covers like this are kind of normal for romance novels but this book isn't particularly "steamy". It's very sweet and the characters don't instantly fall in love but they don't hate each other either. It seems more realistic than most stories. I took off a star because it was overly wordy in some parts. Some conversations didn't need to be written out, ex: "I called" "she answered" "hello" "she replied hello" and then it's like a game of ping pong but the conversations that are written like this aren't exactly important ones. Either way, it was a quick sweet read.

5+++ Stars for Wanderlust!!! I loved loved loved Lauren Blakely's newest release. This book is the sweetest, dreamiest, most magical work from this author to date. With a swoony British hero, an effervescent American heroine and a passionate love story, there is no doubt in my mind Lauren Blakely has another winner on her hands!! I mean c'mon, that's romance gold.

I am so in love with the characters. Griffin and Joy share an insane level of chemistry. I couldn't get enough of them. I enjoyed their fun and flirty interactions and their made for each other connection. Right off the bat, you noticed how perfect they are together. Lauren Blakely always gives us the best heroines. Women who are real and good. Joy is a freakin’ delight in Wanderlust. She’s fun, sassy and bold. My favorite thing about her is how she loves. Whether it's a guy, chocolate or a pink door, she loves with everything she has. I absolutely adore her!! Then there’s Griffin. He's just another perfect Lauren Blakely hero. Incredibly charming, hotter than hot, and just plain yummy. I'm crushing pretty hard on him. There were moments that I wanted to give him a hug because of what he lost. I'm so happy Griffin and Joy have each other.

I have never been the girl who longed to go to Paris. Beautiful city but it just wasn't for me. That is it wasn't until now. Lauren Blakely did a phenomenal job painting a portrait of a gorgeous city filled with hidden gems and unknown quirks. I now have another item added to the ever-growing bucket list thanks to Wanderlust.

I loved this book so much and I highly highly recommend it. Wanderlust is the kind of book where you let out a dream sigh when you reach the end and then make plans to reread it. So romantic and charming. Pick it up immediately.

This was a really nice story.
I love the fact that it was set to Paris and it was a pleasure listening to the audio. The British accent was a huge plus!

I loved this book! The characters were phenomenal and the chemistry they had together was off the charts. Flirty, teasing, tension abounded.

Joy sounded like the perfect friend to take on a trip. Throughout the whole book she explored and fell in love with Paris. She was smart and witty. Griffin has a crazy sexy British accent and speaks five languages. Their teacher/student dynamic was sweet.

Very steamy scenes, including solo scenes (one for him and one for her).
