WildCard amuses me as a lead, but I spent a lot of time rolling my eyes at (and skimming through) the whole World War II Austrian prince subplot. (I think the only author who gets away with that for me is Eva Ibbotson, and that's because she's so damn charming about it all that her best books are irresistible.) To borrow an amusing phrase from Kate's reviews, the angst puppets off the sides get old, though I honestly wouldn't mind seeing more of Max. I am sure he gets a book of his own eventually, though.

This was pretty good, but it was BUSY. We follow 4 separate storylines that do interconnect to some degree, but reading about all these different romances in one book was a little much. And on top of that, 3 of the 4 storylines were dramatic and suspenseful.

I also didn’t like that there was some insta-love going on between our main couple, Ken and Savannah, as well as between Rose and Heinrich. That’s really not my thing in romance novels.

Other than that, I thought the story was compelling and the characters had decent chemistry. I liked all the characters and the unique setting, although I can’t speak to the accuracy of the portrayal of Indonesia. This was my first foray into military romance and also into romantic suspense, so I don’t have much to compare it to.

This book was an okay read for me. I didn't quite enjoy it as the others I've read. Savannah was somewhat too much of an annoyance for me.

It starts slow, and Wildcard is as unlikable a likeable character as always, but the historical story is terrific and the book ends well.

I think that WildCard is one of my favorite Seals. I really loved Roses back story

I typically love Brockmann but this one was so hard. So many separate story lines that don't come together until 70% in. It was so much set up for the last 30% and felt endless. If I didn't love the team I'd have bailed at 25%.

I loved this book. I thought it was good, fast paced, great at bouncing between characters to help build friction and suspense. I am a fan of Suzanne Brockmann!

One of the best early Troubleshooter novels. Brockmannn juggles the multiple POVs and storylines expertly and the WWII plot integrates with the main story beautifully.
