This was a good edition to the series. Wildcard turned out to be a wonderful hero, which I wasn't really expecting, considering the fact that he was set up as a bit of a bad-ass, and those character types don't always end up as interesting as the author thinks they will. I liked his romance with Savannah, although she is far less interesting than he is. The world war II romance was fairly weak in this one, too, but I did enjoy the Molly/Jones pairing. There was also a fair bit of action and adventure, which I found rivveting.
adventurous
emotional
fast-paced
This was the kind of book that I literally felt a drop in my stomach when I finished it, because I was so bummed it was over. It was a long book, but I enjoyed it so, so much. The main characters were so great together and you could feel their chemistry oozing off the pages. And I just love the continuation of the story of Alyssa/Sam/Max. This author is my favorite. She really knows how to write a great romantic thriller!
I hadn't read the story of Ken "Wildcard" Karmody and Savannah von Hopf before but I really enjoyed this book (not withstanding the utterly hideous reader who was, thank god, replaced in later audio books).
Savannah's family is well-known since her grandfather was an Austrian prince and her grandmother has just written the autobiography outlining her work as a spy during WWII. Well, Savannah's uncle has been kidnapped and she needs help getting him back from Indonesia. So she looks up Ken Karmody who she knew from college. He's a SEAL now. But she's always had a crush on him and before she can tell him about her problem, they hook up. When he does find out, Ken's more than a little pissed. He had a girlfriend who used him for years and now he thinks he's being used again.
However, he goes with her knowing that she will probably be killed if he doesn't.
When they get to Indonesia, they are immediately picked up and taken up in a helicopter by men who want to kill them and get to the quarter of a million dollars that Savannah has brought to ransom her uncle. Ken manages to kill the men who had kidnapped them but they are lost in the jungle and have to find their way out. Luckily, Seal Team Sixteen is on the case and so is the FBI.
This is also the book where Molly Anderson and Grady Morant aka Davis Jones are introduced. Getting some of their back story is really interesting, learning about Molly's early life, how she became a do-gooder and how Davis ended up as a black-goods seller.
(Originally listned to in March of 2010, re-read in January of 2011, sooo much better without that reader)

I think that WildCard is one of my favorite Seals. I really loved Roses back story
Thus far, I think I like this book the best. :) -- WildCard is great.
Troubleshooters Series Book #4
So far my favorite of this series. All the storylines are well done. There are a lot of characters and a lot going on, but it's smooth transitioning between the different story's and doesn't seem jumpy or overdone.
I loved how the WWII story was a book written by one of the characters that the others were reading throughout the book. This author does a great job of pulling me into the story. I can't wait to read more of this series.

This is the fourth Troubleshooter book and the fifth one I've read. As in the others, Brockmann has several stories running concurrently...several modern day stories and one WWII story. As always, she does a beautiful job creating believable characters, and in this case, particularly enjoyable ones. I don't think the character development was as deep as in some of the other books - e.g. I think we get to know Sam Starrett and Alyssa Locke better - but we get enough of Karmody and Savannah. What really shines through in this book are the surrounding stories: the double agent, the smuggler, the missionary. She's wrote a fabulously suspenseful story. Ultimately, yes, it's a romance, but it's the rest - particularly the adventure/suspense -that are the root of my five star rating
Wonderful book. I do love Suzanne Brockmann's SEALs. This was one of my favorite books in the series so far. With three love stories going on at once, all in hostile environments, it was a pretty action packed book. I thought Ken and Savannah were great together. I loved watching their story unfold while also learning about her grandmother's own romantic past through everyone in the story reading her book. Rose's Double Agent story was so good I would have read it on it's own if it was actually real. I also really liked Molly and Jones/Grady. I'm hoping that we find out more about them in future books, but somehow I don't think we will. I tore through this book so quickly because I just couldn't put it down. It was a great addition to an already great series.
