This is a completely fantastic book of essays! Tressie Mcmillan Cottom is funny and insightful, and she really got me thinking differently about the topics she covered. Her writing style is incredibly engaging and heartfelt. She is funny and thoughtful, and her prose is gorgeous. It's one of the best books I've read this year!

These essays are haunting and they wrecked me. Cotton’s way of thinking is accurate and painful. Her writing will stay with me for a long time.
