Lots of thought-provoking content. Very funny comments nestled right next to some pretty dark, but also enlightening, points.

An absolutely excellent series of essays that weave together McMillan Cottom’s life experience as a Black woman with her expertise in Sociology.

It’s a heartbreaking read that discusses the intersection of misogyny and racism that Black women face. In the words of Tressue McMillan Cottom: Trust Black Woman.

These essays are haunting and they wrecked me. Cotton’s way of thinking is accurate and painful. Her writing will stay with me for a long time.

I had absolutely no expectations for this book going in, other than it was a collection of essays. They were all so extremely good, and I would recommend this book to anyone.
