If you just wanted to read romance where the MMC's are obsessed with the FMC then this will be right up your alley. But, honestly, even the dynamic on this one is off. First of all I was still a little bit confused with Drayven's place in this story and there's introduction with Jace and Lucifer. You keep on introducing characters while the existing ones are still a bit shaky, take for example with Nico like there is too many people involved and there isn't much circumstances that brings them altogether. It's just  throwing in fantasy, whychoose, fated mates, and romance on this and call it a day.

This series caught me from the get go and it just gets better in this 2nd book. The world is turned on its head and suddenly the pure bloods are in the minority and getting a small taste of what Ama has gone through her whole life. I really love how each of them men have a unique personality and they each have some real character growth in this book. Ama is amazing and while you get a real feel for her internal struggles, she also doesn't just let the guys walk all over her and isn't afraid to call them on their crap! Amazing! That twist at the end though.....I need the next book now!

My mouth opened to say something as his kicked up into a smirk, making a scar on the right side of his upper lip noticeable. That was the last thing I noticed, though... before he kissed me.

I'd expected a lot when meeting my mate... being punched in the face was not one of them.

"I highly suggest you don't pull Ama away from me. Ever." His words were threatening, but I wasn't scared of him. My nose pressed against my mate's neck. Ama. What a gorgeous name. "Adrien," her voice was soft, "I suggest we talk this through before escalating..." "You don't touch my mate," I responded sharply to this Adrien bastard. "Fucking hell!" The brown-haired Incubus asshole threw up his hands and slouched on the ground. "I give up. Everyone is Ama's fucking mate."

"Well, little mate, I would be happy to show you where the kingdom is at," I walked around them towards the cliff before looking back. "If he calls you that one more time, I am going to lose it," Drayven ground out, making me smile.

Who had saved her from the Umbra? Me. I had felt her panic from where I was hunting miles away and raced to find her. I had saved her. Not them. Didn't that make her mine? I was positive it did.

"I have no idea what the fuck you are playing at," Finias’ voice was a sharp hiss, "but after we get the help we came here for, we are leaving. With her. So stay the fuck away." My lips pressed into a smile as he stalked ahead. I understood why he thought that, but what he didn't realize was the lengths to which I would go to ensure my mate's safety and wellbeing. They would all realize soon enough exactly what I was willing to do.

We only got one body and one life, so I would damned well be proud of mine.

"It's in my nature to take care of you, little flame. You're my mate."

"I know we haven't known each other long," Adrien began softly, his breath tickling my ear, "But we're in it for the long haul, beauty. You are ours to cherish and protect."

"Ama, sit here," Finias called out from the edge of the booth as he stood and gestured for me to take the last spot on the cushioned seat. As I took his seat, which was next to Drayven, he pulled an empty chair up to the edge of the table and took my hand in his, placing a kiss on it and sitting down. I smiled coyly up at him and asked, "Oh, are you playing the gentleman tonight?" Drayven draped his arm across my shoulder and grumbled, "We'll see if he can avoid knocking me out tonight, and maybe then we'll call him a gentleman."

"What the hell happened?" I demanded fiercely, effectively ending the rowdy laughter. Jace opened his mouth to answer, but Colt held a hand up to cut him off as his eyes bore into mine. "I got a taste of what you've been dealing with your whole life. I went to a pub to get rooms, as Jace instructed me to do," my eyes cut to Jace and narrowed into slits, "and they treated me like shit because I'm a pure-blood." In an instant, I had shot onto the table, forgetting all I had on was a robe, and had my hand wrapped around Jace's throat as I seethed down at him, "Did you set him up to get jumped?" The noise of the restaurant died down to complete silence as my movement drew all eyes to us, but I didn't care. I felt his throat bob beneath my hand, and I tightened my grip on him, seeing his eyes flash with regret as he croaked out, "Yes." "Do not ever send any of my mates into danger knowingly, or you will be on the receiving end of my scythe. The universe saying you're my mate doesn't mean shit to me until you prove you're worthy of it," I ground out and shoved him into the back of the booth seat firmly.

"Have I ever told you how attractive it is when you bring out the bloodthirsty little creature in you?"
