A set of beautiful vignettes that gives you a wonderful, compulsive insight into somebody's life that I knew nothing about - that of the tough world of horse racing. It is so spare and matter of fact that I fear I missed something but I found it was excellent at getting me out of a reading slump

a fascinating life story, formatted in a very distinctive way. as a former horse girl i hoped that i would like this a bit more but it didn’t end up being a very enjoyable read for me and i couldn’t fully get into the story. still a good book, but not a new favourite.

4.25. Chefs kiss. Not sure I would have ever picked this up without it being recommended which has somehow added to its charm. Blunt prose that is exactly my style, immersive, quietly hilarious, warm, and dark.
