This book was one of the ones that I read so often as a child I was pretty sure I could recite it from memory. That never stopped me from reading it again. It features a strong and resourceful woman who is forced to survive on her own for years, but she never gives up. It's stuck with me for years, and while I don't have my copy anymore... well, I can almost recite it from memory, so that will have to do.

Sophomore Year, AP English.

Slow read. Reminded me a lot of The Pearl by John Steinbeck.
