This book should be titled What Did I Read...

Book one I listened to on Audible and felt like this is a book that knows it's not great but is like a train wreck you can't look away from. Also, the narrator did a great job early on making the MC seem a little unhinged like someone who's trying to convince themself their mask is real, so the "twist" ending was satisfying in that I was right and she was not "JUST A SCIENTIST GOSH DARNIT!!"

This one was like that awkward interaction with someone you went to school with who you accepted a friend request from on social media to be nice, but immediately regret once you see they post every thing about their life to the point it's obnoxious and so you unfollowed them, but then you see them at TJ Maxx, and they start talking to you about all the things they've up to and all the plans they've made because you’re "friends" and you should already know, all the while inside you're thinking wtf are you talking about, yet just standing there with a confused smile plastered to your face nodding over and over until it's f i n a l l y freaking over. Like that sentence. I did finish it solely to meet my reading goals and not have time *totally* wasted.

PSA: let me be your example, don't waste your time.

I do really like the cover though

The spice in this book is top notch. The first book teased the possibilities and then this book delivered. The ending felt rushed and I wish there was more of a cliffhanger. I wouldn’t have emotional liked it but it would have had a stronger conclusion then tying everything up in the last two chapters. I liked the resolutions but some I felt would have had more gravity had we waited till the 3rd book. I love the story with Caly and her relationships and I can’t wait to see the dynamics in the next book. I just hope the story isn’t being continued when there is little story left to tell. I hope there is more to discover in the next book and not exclusive spice. I was on the edge of my seat the whole book with the intense and exciting plot there’s one scene in the throne room that makes this book worth the read. A great book series I will enjoy re-reading.

What just happened... the end of this book once again leaves me wanting more. The truth of who Caly really is and how she is going to circumnavigate her relationships leaves one wanting more and on the edge of you see wanting to see what will happen next

I was fairly excited for this book after reading “How Does It Feel?” However, this was hard to get through. I almost DNF’d, and I never do that. I pushed through, but I feel like it was a waste of time to have finished when I have so many other books on my TBR for this month.

First thing, the spelling/grammar errors were so terrible! Is there not an editor besides Microsoft Word? If there is, they need to be fired expeditiously. No hate to Jeneane, but I expect so much more from an author.

Second thing, what even happened? There was so much happening, but why/how? I feel like we got everything and nothing at all.

Whether I finish this series when the other books are released remains to be seen.

Spice Rating: 🌶️ 🌶️

Info dumping, inconsistencies, and voyeurism... oh my!

As the second book in the Infatuated Fae series (the series title gets mentioned in this book!), What Did You Do? follows Caly as she travels to the Seelie realm to reunite with her "family:" the queen and Eli.
She's also hoping to be reunited with her heart.
As she spends more time with the Seelie royals, Caly discovers secrets, and people, that were meant to stay buried.

I felt there was too much info dumping in this novel that could've been spread out within book 1. I also find the characters lacking depth, as they are mainly created around shallow tropes (e.g., not like other girls, golden retriever, villain). There were some twists that caught me off guard and some things that disgusted me... just like the first book.

Was I the biggest fan of book 1? No. Was I really hoping this one would be better after that twist ending? Yes. Alas, it did not meet my expectations. Will I keep reading the next books just to see what happens? .... probably.

Woah. I thought it couldn't get wilder than book one...boy, was I wrong!

What Did You Do picks up after the end of How Does It Feel, so you're able to jump right in from that cliffhanger. Alternating between the past and present, we're also given another pov in addition to Mendax and Caly's. A lot more world building is done in this book (which sometimes felt like info dumping), context is added, and we learn much more about everyone's past, as well as, the events leading up to the present day.

How Does It Feel ended on a big plot twist and cliffhanger that left me reeling, but this book? Plot twist, after plot twist, after plot twist. Jeneane had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Every time I thought I had something figured out, bam, think again. Even knowing that there was an unreliable narrator situation, I was still caught and shocked every time. You can't trust anything! Or anybody! Except Mendax, and he's the villain lol. This book really makes you debate the gray area of dark and light, good and bad. You will question who is the real villain throughout the whole story.

The spice was definitely turned up a notch in this one, and it was crazyyy. There's one scene that will blow your mind! If you thought Mendax was unhinged and dark in the first book, you haven't seen anything yet.

Something that I could've done without were all the scientific terms that Caly used unecessarily. It seemed forced and out of place, making the reading disjointed. There were also things that I felt popped up randomly, that didn't make sense or had no prior context, like it was just there for shock value. There were several character developments or situations that were contradictory to what we were previously shown, which threw me off at times. I'm very interested to see how and what questions will be answered in book 3, because you're still left with a lot after this one.

All in all, I highly enjoyed this book! This series has me sucked in, and I'm desperate to see how it will all end.
