Although I really enjoyed Tory and Darcy and I found the world building really interesting, the amount of non-consensual acts in this book almost made me DNF. About 3/4 of the way through, the girls just resign themselves to the abuse. The sexual encounters feel tense and forced, especially after the excessive and constant bullying the girls face.

Could have been interesting as it’s a col sounding world but holy sexual assault with a side of trauma!

That's it, I'm kink shaming.

The fact that someone let these two publish their 2012 Harry Potter fanfiction straight from their  Wattpad account is a goddamn crime against humanity. I had never heard of bully romance before this and I honestly wish I still hadn't. This isn't a bully romance or even an enemies to lovers situationship. This is sexual assault and attempted murder. Doesn't matter how hot the guys are. The shit they subjected the two MCs to was just not okay.

This is just bad all around. I gave it only half a star because they did get a nice graphic design for the cover. Everything else? Bad.

And that extra tit scene at the end? What a terrible day to have eyes.

If you have other books on your list, I would skip this one and move on to the next. The entire books is a childish mess following twin sisters who are abused, harassed, and tormented by various boys, but yet still want to have sex with them. The plot is mildly mysterious at best and yet, incredibly confused with how much the author tries to include in it. It reads like a torture kink smut book by people with severe insecurities, disguised as a fantasy YA book. Would not recommend to anyone, but definitely would not recommend to anyone under 25.

I'm not fully sure how to feel about this book, but it's giving "I wanna write a sexy Harry Potter but also make everyone really horny and literally all bullies."

The writing feels directed at younger audiences but has more adult content so those vibes collide. I would also say there are more triggers than advertised, primarily emotional/mental abuse and physical abuse.

Because of what the main characters go through, it feels immature that they don't seem to learn despite their background story. And for some reason all the "baddies" are hot no matter how horrible they are, so it gives the feelsling that you can do what you want as long as you're hot.

By the end, I was curious as to what happens next. But I'm not sure if I'll continue reading the series.

Horrible. These poor girls. There wasn’t one single chapter where these girls weren’t forcibly touched and groped sexually against their will. A book written by women, presumably for women… what a let down. I don’t care what arc it was leading up to for them to kick ass later… hard pass. This book just pissed me off. I’ve never DNF’d a book so fast.
