Low stakes, cozy romance, with occasional detective work sprinkled in. Which, on the surface, isn't that bad. Tho the spicy scene was cringe. Reads like bad fanfic, so very obviously written by someone who hasn't had gay sex.

Also, the minority inclusions were stereotypical in dialog and descriptions. Most glaringly, there are Asians who speak in broken English.
And he's supposed to forgive the chick who shot him bc... she has dissociative identity disorder.

That's the reveal of the case, BTW. Unimaginative. And not good representation. I've read better with DiD rep.

Tbh, I'd have preferred a straight up romance without the cases that made no sense.

I don't think I'll be continuing the series.

Loved every second, and cannot wait to keep reading more of the serie!! Jon’s perfect and must be protected at all costs. Donovan is a saint and we adore him. All the characters, including secondary and more, are amazingly developed and feel real. The plot is super fun and captivating.
I’m in love with this, would 100% recommend. A lovely cozy mystery with a super cute romance with some nicely put, and not overdone, spice (at appropriate moments and that shows up organically, doesn’t feel random or inappropriate at any time).
No complains here, just read it.

Fluffy low-angst story. Kinda insta-lovey but it makes sense given the characters' backgrounds. The mystery was interesting.

I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and well written. I managed to read it in two days and given that I've been on a reading slump for the past few months and no book has managed to hold my interest enough to finish it so fast says a lot. The main characters were really likable and I didn't even really hate the main "villain".

Even though I really liked Jon and Donovan as a couple, I thought they were moving too fast and that bummed me quite a lot. It wasn't just that but something in the way they acted after the got together seemed weird to me. I can't really put my finger on it.
