When the Moon Hatched was hands down my favourite read of 2025 so far. It’s rare that a book on Kindle Unlimited leaves such a strong impression that I immediately want to own a physical copy — but this one did exactly that.

The start of the book felt a little slow and almost like it was originally heading in a different direction. It took some patience, but once it found its footing, it absolutely soared. The writing became breathtakingly good, weaving together an intense, imaginative story with rich characters and emotional depth.

This was the first time I’ve ever been so invested that I decided to pre-order the sequel — something I’ve never done before. That says a lot about how deeply this book hooked me by the end.

🌟 Favourite Quotes:
🌙 "Chase death, Moonbeam. And I pray your bloodlust brings you the same sense of peace I feel just knowing you exist."
🌙 "I’m not your secret. I’m your truth."
🌙 "I also like the idea of being able to fall from the sky and squash somebody if they piss me off."

I’ve fallen in love with yet another fictional world. This book is so beautifully written and the descriptive details are magical! Kaan and Raeve are definitely two of my new favorite characters. The emotions that I felt while reading this were intense! The love that Kaan has for Raeve is completely unmatched and the heartbreak of watching her push her feelings down because she thought herself so unworthy of love just hit my soul so deeply. I wish I had read it sooner and I can’t wait for the next book release!

This has been on of my faves in a long while. I genuinely enjoyed the main character so much. She was so much fun to follow

The world does not deserve Kaan Vaegor if I could give a character 5 stars alone I would.
The first time in a long time I've actually cried happy tears.

I struggled to know what I was going to rate this book. There were parts in this book that were incredible, including the prologue. I was hooked from there. I struggled with the pacing because it was quite inconsistent. I feel the pacing is quite slow as it takes a good while to build up to the main story.
However the world building up to this point is impeccable and really gives you a feel for this world. I really enjoyed the concept of the world, quite a simple concept of the world but interesting and really went into depth. It turned a very simple idea of a world,
Hot, mutual (where most of the people in the slums live) and cold place. However I loved how each area of the world had a specific dragon

My main criticism of the book was that it did take a while to get into. The pacing was a little all over the place and I did get lost at parts. The glossary is helpful in understanding the world.

I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book x
