Very well written, seamlessly weaving the tale with larger experiences, that have being Black in America, LGBTQ, and disabled. Much darker than I anticipated and more sexually explicit content. It was outside more typical choice of books but I’m glad I read it.

Really enjoyed the first section of the book where it is all about Vern learning not just of her changing body but of her ability to love her children as well. After that, well, there's something to be said about having unpredictable twists. But it just kept going in directions I found really hard to connect with, especially when it involved new characters or characters we did not know much of anything about.

I wish I’d read this with someone. it would have been fun to swap theories in real time. I’m left a little disappointed after the big reveal. only because the mystery’s gone, and the truth is ugly.

it was beautifully written, and will stay with me for a while.

(my health anxiety almost had me put it down a few times, but it’s worth pushing through it.)
