I really liked the new character and the character that was brought back from the past. They definitely gave the story some freshness that it needed.

I was genuinely despising this phase of the story with Mello and Near.
Fortunately there is a new character in the story that changed everything. Teru Mikami is exactly what this story needed.
Together with Light's old girl friend from school, they revitalized my excitement for the story.
Can't wait to see what will happen in the last two volumes of Death Note.

19/100 (2018 Reading Challenge)
Only two more to go & would have finished by Death Note reread. Still twists and turns aplenty, far more than happens toward the end of the Animè, yeah the pace does slow down as the series goes on but that is only to be expected really. Unless they completely changed all of the characters. There are new characters but it all serves to move the story to its inevitable conclusion. No spoilers but it is less action packed at this point but no less enjoyable & the conflict between both sides is still fun to read. But if you enjoyed the rest, I would find it hard to see why you would hate this one. If you did not. Why have you read 10 books? Though if you had that’s some remarkable perseverance. Onto 11.
