This one was thoughtful and well-written. I enjoyed the author's style and the themes she raised. It dealt with some difficult themes such as child sexual assault, mental health, immigration, race, and genetic illness.

It also covered belonging and navigating when there is nowhere you feel you belong.

I could have read this in one sitting, but it was so emotional, that I had to break it up. Searing and honest, and depending upon the essay, distressing to read. Thank you, Grace Talusan, for sharing your story.

This memoir kept things on the surface, which given the writers trauma, I can definitely understand. Overall, it was a really good read and I enjoyed learning more about Filipino culture.
