I really appreciated how real it was. Sometime during reading this book, my sister and I had an interesting conversation that started with her saying,
“I think from now on, I’ll just go concerts with you. Cause even if we get in a fight, what are we going to do about it?”
I could leave this commentary there, because that’s what this book is about. How [within reason of course], sisters can break each other’s hearts or expose each other’s deepest insecurities but the bond is so strong that you both know it’s ‘water off a duck’s back’. Sibling bonds are such that you could be in the middle of an argument and yet, you’ll still ask them if they’re hungry. That’s what real love is to me. Thinking about what you’ll get them for their birthday even though you’re currently angry at them.

I think I bought this on special and I'm clearly not the target demographic. The characters were frustratingly selfish and awful to each other. Also half of them barely work but live in Sydney in the current rental market apparently financially stress free? Perhaps I'm too old for this one... could not relate.
This was gossipy and really consumable. As the cover suggests it’s a book about a love triangle between three white women on beach towels, set in Sydney. The affairs themselves are depressing and uninspired, and the minutiae of their afterlives are described in excruciating detail. I wondered if the ending was too neat, and if in a more realistic take the sisters would just have not spoken again for like 3-4 years? I also really want to know who the “female director” briefly mentioned in the later parts of the book is in reference to

Loved it, such a fun and engaging read, and the characters felt so real.
The perfect summer read. Both light and deep at the same time – like a long day in the sun at the pool. (Pardon the corny metaphor)
