Not sure if anyone else caught this cuz it was easy to miss, but Shannonliketheriver is very small. Like, very small. Super tiny. Very underdeveloped. So petite. Chloe Walsh was so adept at sneaking it in, I nearly overlooked that crucial bit of information!

Some of the scenes were pretty much verbatim rehashing of a scene that JUST happened and it was often so repetitive that I thought my audiobook was glitching or I accidentally skipped backwards on more than one occasion.

Shannonliketheriver being small and Johnny’s dick being “broken” are basically the entire plot of this book but it did suck me in with that ending. Not sure I would have got that far had I not been reading it for book club, though.

Also, did we really need the cat diarrhea scene?

The character depth and the strength of emotion evoked, even by side characters, was impressive, and the plot was meaningful. It also felt like a very real depiction of teen life. I viscerally loved and loathed the characters in this book. It is well-written and definitely worthwhile.

i don’t even know where to begin
i’m usually not into the slow burn thing but THIS ??
i ATE the 800 pages and i’m not a fast reader but the tension ?? the little flirts every time and out of nowhere ??
And wtf who finds himself giggling, literally laughing while reading a book ??
It’s funny, emotional, touching, heartbreaking sometimes but 100% worth it.
Honestly the best book i’ve ever read atm
Just go and read it
