good but frustrating at times
rochester is such a weird guy 😭 dressing up as a fortune teller in order to psychologically analyse jane & the gentry women? only to then keep ranting abt jane’s forehead??? he fr has a thing for foreheads
why did the disagreement between st john and jane go on forever like make a decision PLEASE and put me out of my misery. why did it take like 5 chapters for her to decide on something she had already decided on? why did st john have to keep “giving her chances” like learn how to accept a rejection.
also why did she leave thornfield with nothing and go to some random town… at least go to your rich uncle?? even if he was dead by the time you got there it’s better to go somewhere your relatives had connections than a random village without food or money. the lack of common sense! pure dumb luck saved this girl on multiple occasions.
other than this, i liked the story. was expecting it to have a sad ending bc i thought her life would just be tragedy after tragedy but was pleasantly surprised by the ending!
romantic and sweet at times, but also extremely weird at others.

Why did it take me so long to read this book?? For years I have wanted to but put it off. It truly is a daunting book. I was intimidated for sure. And the start is slow. I finally started it and almost gave up after a few chapters. But oh once you get used to the language and her style, Jane quickly becomes a favorite. And the style quickly becomes engaging and griping. This book is gorgeous. I love it. I love it. I love it.
