I liked this book, it was fun, though it took me a while to get involved. Comparing to other books that I've read this year I thought this one was poorly written, I'd prefer if it had more scene details and more character development. Sure Kylie changed but not as much I as thought she could and I also felt that Dude soldier plot ended in a rush.
Anyways, I will continue this series cause I wanna know what will happen next. I'm just not in a hurry ;)

This book kind of reminds me of Percy Jackson, though it is little less happening. The story goes on and on and it is more like reading about someone's life than reading a novel. All in all, the book is okay, but I felt that Shadow Falls After Dark was much better, which I read way before I started reading Born at Midnight.

This book has potential to be a very great book. With that being said, I'm just way to old for a book like this. I get the impression that the author might be a bit homophobic. I could be wrong seeing that I didn't finish it. I also didn't like the major out casting. If you weren't 100% normal you were really strange. That's okay though for some people and even me at a younger age, the author was just trying to describe that the camp was different. It wasn't for me though.

Personally, I love this book. I find that Kylie is kinda the shy, virgin, everyone loves her but nobody really owns up to it. And some of me can relate to her. But I can also relate to her best friend Sara. She’s a party girl, she is not a virgin, she is more the outgoing but shy girl. This book as me on the edge of my seat every time I pick it up. I like the love triangle and I like the one love interest.
This book was okay at best. The plot had a lot of potential, but the main character was horrid. She was extremely whiny and quite rude. Certain comments that she made bothered me and I couldn't get past them.
I’ve read this book countless times but this time I read it like I read it the first time. I tried not to skip ahead to my favorite parts and reread those three or four times.
I have this books a 5/5 stars because it’s an easy read. It leaves you wanting more. More answers for Kylie and yourself.
Here are a few things that I liked about this books
•favorite quotes:
“You obviously haven’t ever noticed her in a crowd. She’s a serial kisser. I think her parents are part French.” Derek talking to Kylie after trying to make her jealous.
“Do you know what qualifies as justifiable homicide?” Poor Kylie. She just saw her dad making out with his assistant who’s four years older than Kylie herself.
•the love
Kylie and Derek- sweet and innocent
Kylie and Lucas- hot and passionate
Kylie and Trey- he’s a bastard. I don’t like anyone who excepts someone to put out just because they want it.
Holiday and Burnett- almost enemies to lovers feel to them! I love it!
•Kylie’s development
At the beginning of the book she was this lost little girl. She was this scared lost girl. She still is this 16 year old girl at the end of the book but she know who she is better than she did at the beginning. She knows she’s a supernatural. She knows that her ghost is is biological father. She knows he loved her because he watched over her.

I walked past this book a few times before finally picking it up. And then once I had brought it home, I read two or three pages at a time for almost a week. The first few chapters I absolutely loathed the main character. I think it was the labeling of anyone who chooses to be slightly different then the societal norm as "freaks" that really got to me. Mostly she reminded me of a person I once knew who pushed every button I had and made me want to rip my hair out. But I did read it all. And in the end it's not the worst thing I have ever read. Still not sure if I will buy the sequel, but as good YA becomes harder and harder to find, I in the end am glad that I picked this book up.
Kylie Galen was having enough trouble with her life with her boyfriend breaking up with her, her parents tumultuous divorce, and trying to just be a kid who didn't feel wanted. Being sent to Shadow Falls camp for troubled teens, was not on her radar. She was a good girl, despite what her mom thought.
Finding out the camp is for teens who go bump int the night was another matter altogether. For Kylie, she doesn't believe that she is a supernatural creature. Yes, she can see a ghosts but really so can a lot of other normal people. Fighting against herself, Kylie has to decide if she is wiling to find out who she is or will she hide behind her fear.
I wasn't sure if I would get into this book, but I am so glad I picked it up. Had several twists to the paranormal world. I appreciated that Kylie's problems were real problems with her parents, boyfriend, friends they were relatable. Liked all the side characters, look forward to more in this series.

It's sad to think a lot of people actually hated this book, or sereis. I loved loved it while I was reading it and even read it a 2nd time. It was amazing.
