And just like that we're back to waaat? "On Your Own" parts 1 and until the end of 2 was SO MOVING! I was enthralled. This is the type of writing I expect and want. And then they of course had to throw everything and the kitchen sink into it and ruin the development they just did. Sigh.

Yay for Spike. But boo for date-rape-drugging and generally disappointing plot. And kind of not my favorite illustration style. But mostly boo for how this Buffy deals with date rape (or, rather, the way it was treated as inevitable/not a huge deal...except kinda by Spike). And Xander is the worst.

This was the arch that made me quit Buffy comics for a while. I'm trying to give them another go. It wasn't as bad the second time - the Nikki Wood stuff was good, but
Andrew drugging Buffy (his actual words: "I roofied you") to switch her mind out of body without her consent or knowledge
is still my least favorite storyline of any Buffy media ever. Not necessarily out of character, but handled with the sensitivity of a teaspoon. Ugh.

I was excited for a pregnant Buffy storyline.

I was excited about the scenes where she weighed her choices.

I was pumped that she decided to get an abortion with minimal hand wringing.

I was frustrated, angered, and bored by her abortion being thwarted by a storyline that might have been interested in another time. Really?

And there's some other stuff that happens.
