This series just gets better and better with each book!!

I'm tackling this series out of order, but that's okay. My father recommended it-- he likes all the conspiracy theory books by Preston and Child.

It's a fun easy read, nothing too taxing, but definitely amusing. It was great for a summer trip-- except that it prominently features corn fields, and I was traveling through Illinois. (If you are not familiar with this part of the country, it is flat and contains much corn. And soybeans. But mostly corn.)

I'd give the book three and a half stars if I could.

Okay, so overall, I'm digging this series, but this book felt like a stretch, and that's saying something for these authors, who thrive on the corny and supernatural.
That being said, it wasn't horrible enough to prevent me from buying the next in the series.

This is the book that got me hooked on Douglas Preston and Lincoln Childs. It was my introduction to Pendergast and of course I immediately bought copies of the other books in the series. The writing is compelling, the characters are so very human and the journey through each novel is an experience the reader will not soon forget. LOVE THESE BOOKS !!

Early Pendergast. Thick with suspense and horror. I'm seeing a pattern with the mystery main protagonist in several books.

This twist at the very end was SUPER creepy, but I loved the book.

This was spookier and scarier than its predecessors. Didn't think that was probable.

OMG. I LOVED this story. Pendergast is in top form. Gone are some of the annoying side characters that just get in his way. This story is complete in itself and one need not really have read any of the others. Of course, if you have read some of the early Pendergast stories, there will be some nuggets of insider info that will make more sense.

The scene of the "monster" in the crowfield. Mufff, muffgh. muffghhh. Scared the CRAP out of me. LOVE EVERY MINUTE.
