It was a useful book that somehow became redundant to me because I had already watched so many videos on this topic. If you are a student, you should read it at least once.
Plenty of good insights on how to learn, understand and "make things stick" here!

Good book, could’ve been a blogpost though

Not giving a formal star review. It’s a self help book. Like most of these, it could have been a 30 minute Ted talk. I think it delivered the info that was intended and if someone is looking to create better study habits, this is useful

Enlightening ideas for effective learning. The book is very repetitive but is a worthwhile read. I wish I had developed this perspective back in high school.
Some takeaways:
- Self-assessment is the best way to retain what you learn.
- Space-out learning sessions so you practice having to recall material after forgetting it.
- Oftentimes ineffective ways of learning (e.g. re-reading material) give us a false sense of security by making us think we are learning more. Effective learning techniques won't feel as productive even if they pay off more in the end.
- Learning takes real effort. If you're not struggling with it, you probably won't learn it or retain it as well.
Great advice for students, teachers, and lifelong learners.

Reading this book will change your paradigm of what you think you're capable of learning. The author does this by lifting up the hood of your brain when it comes to learning. Very fascinating. I would recommend this to everyone.
