3.6/5 - the beginning of this book was strong but it dragged on a bit. This has a good baseline of information and would be more useful for someone building a course or a teachable foundation on learning. As someone interesting in information recall and building accessible knowledge this was little more than a fine book.

This book was awesome, especially the last chapter. So many tangible takeaways that I'll be using in my classroom.

This is the bible of educational and learner theory. Honestly, this is one of the best and most thought provoking books I've ever read. When I was a physics teacher, I would frequently revisit this book to guide how I taught my students. As a learner, it changed how I approached my studying and my education experience. Peter Brown has distilled learning down to a science, which of course speaks to me, but also preserves the art of learning, as well. If you're a teacher, or a student, or just looking for a good book that will make you think, this is a must for you.

[Audiobook]

A little disappointing for me but in no way is it a terrible book. Had I read this in 2018 (it was on my reading list then), I might have learned something, but it all seems like common sense now. Soo let's be honest I continued listening cuz I'm scrambling to meet my reading goal

From what I remember, the key concepts were:
Active Learning (testing) is key - recall strengthens memories
Spaced repetition - the harder it is to recall, the more you will remember
Interspersion - changing activity will
Reflection
Generation
Mnemonics
To be continued...

A really good introduction to retrieval with excellent data and evidence. Very user friendly look at how to improve practice.
