This was my second series by Priest and overall I quite enjoyed it.
When I first picked this up I was concerned with two things:
First being the relationship between Gu Yun and Chang Geng as they initially started of as a godfather/godson duo and having this develop into a romantic relationship definitely seemed weird to me at first. Fortunately, it was a lot more unproblematic than I expected. In contrary, I liked how Chang Geng took some distance from Gu Yun and first maturing on his own before them reuniting. And then having their relationship develop in a way that they are actually equal. I also quite enjoyed their dynamic.
Second thing that I was concerned with was the overall plot. I remember that I had a very hard time while reading Guardian as a lot of things were hard to follow and understand. There were definitely still some details that went over my head, but luckely I was able to understand the greater scheme at all times. The Plot was very well-crafted and intriuging.

Well this was utterly mid. This review is gonna differentiate between the final part of the novel and the extras.
Novel: sadly very anticlimactic and rushed. Everything was dealt with in record time and Gu Yun and Chang Geng barely interact. I wish there had been a bit more drama followed by some wholesome moments.
Extras: some are good some are not so good. The final extra unfortunately is so boring that the novel ends on a "thank goodness it's over" note
