This read more like a suspenseful character study than a thriller, but I really enjoyed this!! I like this a lot better than Julie Clark’s previous book, The Last Flight. This was also the perfect length at 302 pages, I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any longer.

This book was fantastic. In a year of so many disappointing second books to amazing first ones, this is the exception. Read this in a day and couldn’t stop. The writing, the characters, the cons, the story, everything was perfect and so interesting and entertaining. I loved Meg, her mind and how she went about this, I really rooted for her doing the “right” thing. And Kat as well. Must read!!

FANTASTIC!! Julie Clark does it again!! My expectations were high after reading "The Last Flight" and every expectation was met. I loved every page and it was a quick unputdownable read.

Meg is a con artist, who will be whomever she needs to be to get the job done. After ten years, Meg returns to her home in LA. Who has she come back to target this time? Is Meg really a bad villain? What is the difference between revenge and justice" Who will win in the end?

Overall, a satisfying end and I cannot wait to read more by Julie Clark! I highly recommend this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love a good revenge story with a strong female con-artist. This book really hit the mark for me. A juicy plot & interesting characters!

3.75 ⭐️ “The lies I tell serve a purpose, tipping karma in the right direction. Returning power to those who have lost it. The difference between justice and revenge comes down to who’s telling the story.”

wasn’t as twisty and suspenseful as The Last Flight, but i still enjoyed it

a female con artist exacting justice by targeting evil and corrupt men who always seem to evade it?? cool! rooting for her!

i really liked meg and kat’s friendship and the character growth they had throughout the story. a con artist and a journalist determined to expose her starting to develop a genuine friendship while trying to outwit one another was a fun dynamic to follow.

just like meg’s approach to her targets, the pacing of the story was slow and thorough. while i usually prefer more fast-paced books and was a bit bored at times, i see how it was important to Show (not tell) us exactly how meg pulls it off every time, how she slowly gains trust of her targets and how much meticulous planning goes into it. no insane plot twists, but i liked how the tension slowly grew and led to a satisfying conclusion.

a super clever, original, and well-written story <3

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Publishing for granting my wish for this book in exchange for an honest review.
Meg has always been a great grifter, even before she knew it. She also possessed the ultimate knowledge on how to manipulate power-driven, corrupt men: tell them what they want to hear.
Kate is a journalist whose life turned upside-down, and she is determined to expose Meg for who she truly is.
Full of psychological suspense, “The Lies I Tell” takes you on a journey full of masterful character development and unconventional redemption for women who have lost their voice.
Clarke has done it again. I read “The Last Flight” last year and cannot recommend her writing enough.
