Wilde and Matthew have my heart. I liked how every single character was written, and oooh boy, the way the dialogue was written was right up my alley! I just found out that this is actually the second book in a series after finishing the story, so that might explain why the characters and their relationships were so solid from the start. And even though I didn't read the first book, I wasn't lost at any point, so I totally thought this was a standalone. Overall, I had a great time and found the conclusion satisfying!
A few unanswered questions: 1) What happened in Costa Rica? It's not a big deal though, so I don't mind that it's not touched upon, but I NEED answers for 2) David's car crash??? and 3) the Maynard kidnapping, which was mentioned only ONCE and I don't know to what it's referring (possibly book #1?). 4) What's Wilde's last name? Because I have no idea.
Besides that, his parent's story was straight out of a soap opera and it felt like I was getting a super condensed movie retelling in the span of 4 pages. A little rushed? Sure. A little crazy? Definitely. I was really invested, so I'm just happy Wilde met his mom, and I didn't mind that it served as an epilogue.

I have given this 4 stars instead of 5 as it is the second book in a series about Wilde and I had not realised this. Not having read the first book, The Boy From The Woods, did hamper my enjoyment. However, the book did pretty much explain everything (I think) from the first book.

This was an action packed thriller with Coben’s signature suspense filled plot. I loved this book and would definitely now read the first from the series. I devoured this book; I simply could not put it down. There were so many layers to the plot but it was still easy to follow. Every twist had me shocked and there was mystery until the very end. I would highly recommend this to all thriller/mystery fans.
