Filled with hilarious recounts and revisions of classic love stories with a modern twist. Also taking characters and bringing a modern turn to them that both connects the reader deeper into the story by modern relation and fuels each story with a new perspective on the concepts and morales featured in mythical lore.

3.8 is the average of my ratings- rounded up as the collection was great overall. I loved all the mythology and references and all the time periods covered throughout. Beautiful characters and romances- I really enjoyed Babalola’s writing style.

I like the concept but the execution wasn't there. I think this could have used another round of editing. The were several sentences that I had to read multiple times because they were choppy or stilted.

Nothing wrong, just had to return to the library. I am not built to be a reader of short story collections.

A collection of beautiful love stories that draw on a wide range of myths and folklore tales, most of which I'd never heard of before.
The characters are beautifully elaborated and the writing is so stunning.
The only downside was that I struggled to connect to some of the stories but that is often the case with short story collections.
Overall, would recommend if you want to feel the authors love of love.

was going to be a 5 star read for me, but the new tales section kind of lowered it to 4.

babalola shone when it came to writing mythical stories with otherwordly elements, imo. the first tale is probably my favourite, followed by siya's. the contemporary, modern romances also worked for me as they were well-known tropes kept short and sweet, so it wasn't repetitive.

(also, i'm torn between wishing some of them were a full book, and thinking they are perfect the way they are already).
