Placenta previa -- my mother went through this with me, so the fact that it appeared in this story was interesting to me, and definitely made me more interested in this soon-to-be-mother's agony. Motherhood is tough. But there are secrets here (one in particular) that is going to eat away at this mom.

I was so tense when the baby was having trouble nursing that I couldn't even get comfortable! Phew. Again, motherhood is tough!!

Grief is a weird monster; sometimes it slumbers or perhaps it's hibernating, and then it comes crashing through your carefully crafted world.

I have never read [a:Julie Orringer|22580|Julie Orringer|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1298686444p2/22580.jpg]. And I liked her short story, as a mother It is easy to connect with a story like this.

A pregnant woman is rushed to the hospital onset of her premature bleeding. The pregnant lady does not want to go to that particular hospital but it is the only one which is near. She is tensed about the birth as her doctor had warned about the complication her pregnancy has. But above all, her mother had died in the same hospital where she is taken for emergency delivery.

There is whole lot of emotions, memories that goes in the to-be mommy lady. A backstory on her mother and her relationship with her. Questions on motherhood.
Written wonderfully..

Thanks to Amazon Original Stories and NetGalley for ARC in exchange of honest review.
Happy Reading!!!

Good short story. I was surprised by the story by Julie Orringer, I read her novels and this one is completely different, more intimate and introspective. I am sure I will read the rest of the short stories of this series!

The author did an excellent job encapsulating the fear and anxiety a new mother faces during, and just after, giving birth. I also found the passages about the unnamed narrator reliving and grieving over her mother's death to be incredibly moving. I honestly felt every emotion the author poured into this story. I wasn't a big fan of the second person narration and some of the technical choices made, including how certain information was presented, bothered me.

I wasn’t a fan of the writing style for this short story. I feel like I struggled to connect with the main character due to this. It wasn’t my cup of tea, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be yours.
