Presented as memoirs found in a locked box, which Dr Watson instructed was not to be opened until 100 years after the events described, this book consists of two short stories that reveal the true, romantic nature of Watson’s relationship with Sherlock Holmes. This is as good as really good fanfiction – that’s a compliment, and more than I can say of a lot of Sherlock Holmes pastiches. I loved the romance and the angst, and how the author handled Mary Morstan, and the supporting cast of queer original characters.
