Fun YA romance with magic! Nothing super original but not bad overall.

I like how this ended with a very realistic closure. Not everything was fixed or back to normal. This wasn't a fear, especially since Gray's other books (cough Evernight series cough) ended with some tough closures. It's just nice to have something different in a YA book about supernatural beings.

I absolutely loved this book, as I did the whole series. I'll be back with a full review later, but for now I'll just say it fulfilled all my expectations.

This was such a satisfying conclusion to an already brilliant series. All of our characters have endings, not necessarily happy/unhappy, some were messier than others. None of the characters ever stopped fighting, be it the good ones or the evil ones.

Although, I do think Elizabeth's story could have been a bit more fleshed out as we never really get a concrete reason for why she is so evil. VerlAsa fight for each other, Mateo and Nadia learn that just because it's true love does NOT mean it will be easy, and Nadia's dad even gets some closure of his own.

Highly recommended, very satisfying ending.

“If I'm going to meet the devil you better believe I'm wearing Dior”

Sorceress is the third and final instalment in the Spellcaster series by Claudia Gray.

At the end of Steadfast, Nadia Caldani swore herself to the big bad known as One Beneath, also known as the devil. Throughout this novel, this begins to cause a drift between herself, her beloved boyfriend Mateo, her best friend Verlaine and her family.

Due to her heritage that was discovered in the previous book (the women on her father's side were witches), this makes her suspectible to the darkness, and so, this could mean she might lose control and allow it to completely take over. Elizabeth, the evil Sorceress working for the One Beneath, causes Nadia to wreak havoc on Captive's Sound and this causes herself and her loved ones to question her.

Within this novel, the cursed and unloved Verlaine obtains a more prominent role with quite a few scenes focused purely around her. I really enjoyed her scenes as her personality and story provided a great contrast to the disasters that were occurring around them. Her interactions with Asa had me holding out hope for the new star-crossed lovers!

The pace of Sorceress appeared to be a little all over the place and it really disappoints me when the big 'fight' scenes are rushed and you get to the happy ending. For Sorceress, it just seemed quite glossed over and killing the big bad came across very easily done.

As a fan of most of Claudia Gray's work, I was slightly disappointed with this book after such a great opening with Spellcaster. I'll hopefully go into a series review and if I do, I'll add a link below for you!

Overall, I am giving this book 2/5 because I liked it less than Steadfast and it just didn't hold my interest at all. Perhaps, if I had read this when I was a bit younger (13-15) I would have liked it more. However, I have seen quite a few reviews where people did enjoy it so it really comes down to personal taste.

This was a nice and matching finale for an enjoyable series and I really liked it. I always liked the basic concept of this series and the magic system the author built up here. The character’s all got their depth as well of course.

The book itself was well written and I could enter the story well again, even though it was quite a long while ago, since I finished part two of this series. Even then I was still able to understand what has happened even though I forgot some details of it since the last reading.

The last part was quite good again but in the end the action was missing a bit for me. The final battle seemed to be over so fast, which was quite sad. They visited hell for what felt like five minutes. I expected more for that.

The ending itself though was a great wrap up for the series. I love Happy Ends and I liked it even more here, that some aspects just stayed the same (Kim). It seemed more realistic, even though I would have had nothing against a full happy end either, since the spell could have been broken here as well. It would not have been that unreasonable but life is not always 100% perfect either, so it is okay.

i would also go to hell to get asa back, he is the best thing to ever exist (also nadia and mateo finally fucked)
note to the narrator, why did you decide to give mateos dad an accent in the third book and only in the third book?
