although this took me a week to read, i wouldn't fault the book for that. It delivered atmosphere, suspense, ROMANCE, horror...the romance was so good too. Like we all need a Francis in our lives. I wish their was an epilogue because I want to see how everything played out in the end, but I always want more from these kind of books with characters i love

I would give this a 3.5. This was not bad, a little weird, but well written. There were some parts that seriously grossed me out lol but the concept was interesting. Reminded me of “The Last of Us” - but not as scary, altho living in that house would be... The family in this was shitty, I really like the FMC though, she was sassy and fun to read.
It wasn’t until about 3/4 of the way into the book the story started progressing. Until then it was all laying the groundwork, and the writing wasn’t strong enough. The main character was likable enough. Overall a bit disappointed.
i loved the atmosphere, main character, and creepy weirdness of it all! the eerie and descriptions were done so amazingly!
The references to the effects of colonization were also really interesting and thoughtful.
I really loved the main character and how strong and bold she was even though white supremacy and patriarchal standards tried to stifle her.

The beginning was slow and hard to get through. Once the meat of the story kicked off, though, it was hard to put it down.
