Interesting. Engaging. A new (to me) concept. It maybe got tied up a little quickly at the end (if you’ve read Anita Blake books, a little bit like how they typically end, with the story building slowly and the last chapter or two ties everything in a neat bow). Plot twists that I didn’t see from a mile away, but make sense in hindsight, and a few red herrings.

Ménage
Urban fantasy
Scarred heroine
‘Lacking’ ordinary FMC
Uncommon possibly unique fantasy elements
Mostly single POV with a chapter or two from another POV
Light MM
Age gap of decades but they’re attractive immortals and it doesn’t come up as much as you’d think

4.5 stars.
I'm not even sure I should be allowed to review Michaela Haze books anymore since I'm just so obsessed with them that it's impossible to not be biased. This read/was formulated exactly like all her other books, and I ATE IT UP. Done in a day.

Reviewing a fast-paced, standalone novel is always a challenge. Yes, there's always going to be a lack of complete world building. Yes, the relationships are going to feel a bit fast. Yes, it's going to conclude without every plot line wrapped up. But the benefit is that when you pick it up you aren't committed to a dang 7-book series!

I really liked the FMC in this one, and both MMCs grew on me as well. They were a little unserious considering their positions of power in the society, but it's fine, it was endearing. The world was unique, and I almost did wish this was a series because I would have liked to know more about it. There were some standard tropes and I won't say I was completely surprised by some of the twists, but this was a fun read and I'd recommend it to anyone. I almost thought we were going to not get a group scene and I was going to flip a table....the only thing I do wish, even if it meant another couple pages added to the length, was a little more affection between the two MMCs at the end. We got the m/m teaser early on, as well as a lot about how they care for each other, and then not even a kiss at the end.

So, I feel like the romance was a little weak and I really wanted more from the story, but I also absolutely didn't want to put this book down. Seriously. I was up 2 hours past my bedtime, then actually got up before my alarm to keep reading.
I just honestly wish I knew more. I have so many questions!

Entertaining with a great premise but this would’ve probably benefited from being a duet. The first portion of the book sort of drags on then the action was very quick and a bit anti climatic. Also the sex scenes and romance were a bit weak, I didn’t feel much between the characters.
