I have to agree with the other 1-2 stars. I’m really not sure how it has such a good rating. As others have said the world building is lazy. The book started out well and then just fell flat for me. Cate was such a frustrating MC, like nearly insufferable. Channing seemed like he was only there to push the plot along. There was no real depth. Honestly, that’s for all the characters. Even when cate was sharing her story with Loch. Im like, am I supposed to care? It didn’t make me feel anything. I didn’t feel connected to these characters at all sadly.
I will continue the series cause what the heck kinda cliffhanger is that

This just wasn’t good. It’s a thinly veiled mafia romance with about 100pages of unnecessary angst. The story really doesn’t begin until the last few chapters….everything before that is “I hate him but I’m so attracted to him…” ugh.

I liked this book definitely a fun and easy read but I would have liked more backstory. It’s like right away she’s with this dude and we just don’t get enough world building to make things make sense.
