Across Dark Seas

”It isn’t that life ashore is distasteful to me. But life at sea is better.”

As a prequel to the main series of Beneath Black Sails this books portrays the story of Lady Avice and the circumstances that formed her into the notorious pirate Lady Vice. The first love story between the main characters shows how young love and naïvety can lead to ultimate heartbreak when seeking adventure.

I absolutely loved learning more about the backstory of our main characters including Captain Blackwood who is mentioned by his real name.

It's kind of a bittersweet origin story.

This was a great little book for Vice’s backstory! We know the outlines of what happened from BBS, but it was wonderful to get the details!

This was an entertaining prequel. I was a little concerned that the book wasn't for me, but once Avice was off on her adventure, bumped into her sister, and was on the ship, I started to enjoy it. I love Avice's wild and rebellious nature. I look forward to seeing more of her adventures, and I hope to see more of a certain Captain.
