This is hands down one of the best novellas I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I was almost instantly captivated by the main character Avice and her seemingly instinctual desire for adventure! Watching her grow into who she was truly meant to be was inspiring, and ultimately a fantastic lead up to who she will be in the first book. I can’t wait to continue with this series!

This is prequel book of the series Beneath Dark Sails, we meet Lady Avice and her journey to become herself and her dreams of adventure as in the books she reads. This brings her to the pirate ship The Morgan and the high seas, after she and her newly husband had to run from her father. The book beautifully written and the narrator brings the characters to life. I will definitely recommend.

Across Dark Seas is a wonderful beginning to the Sabreverse! Before I knew the Saberverse existed, I read Beneath Black Sails & about 70% of A KISS of Iron. In case you don’t know, that’s not the order you’re supposed to read in! 🤣
So I went back to Across Dark Seas which is the beginning of the stories in the Saberverse! And it was wonderful. It was kind of like an Assassin’s Blade, in the fact that I had already met 2 FMCs in the other two books and now I understand how they are connected. It is a perfect introduction to this world and to find out why they FMCs are the way they are.

Not at all what I thought I was getting when I purchased, but this ended up being quite an interesting combo of fantasy and pirates that I enjoyed very much. It's not perfect, but definitely held my attention, and I'm looking forward to continuing through the series.
