I really enjoyed this prequel! It's fast paced, fun, and generally well written. The only thing I'd remark on is that it's pretty short, so it feels a bit compressed and not super deep. I also think it could have benefited by one more round of editing/rewriting since some sentences are not grammatically correct.. it threw me off at times. But it's not the end of the world.

I really want to read more of this series now, but I have so many other books on my tbr and I can't really buy more books for a while....
