I cannot properly rate this book as it is essentially a book of facts, but I highly recommend it if you want to learn more about mass incarceration and the racist history of the US criminal justice system. It serves as a great introduction to the issue for those who aren’t as educated on the situation.

4.5
On first read in 2018: 4.5 stars. Though I can't say that this was an enjoyable read (as the topic is maddening), it was extremely informative. It only lost half a star because it was at times repetitive.
