Dual audio but they sound exactly the same!!! You cant even tell it's twos seperate people. Huge fail. It ruins the dual readers.
There's no love, no build up, just instant crap love.
The "pyscho" who doesn't feel, doesn't get emotions, etc. He sure feels, falls in love and obsessed fast. Every one of these books do this...
The "grabs his neck" puhleeeeeeese. Over done. Over used.
Why does Michael have random strong painkillers in his kitchen?
Why is it just the same overused story?? Rich, pyscho brothers? It's cringe with them having everything at their disposal. No real problems, just the same rinse and repeat "I can't understand or have emotions but you're the first person to get me to feel them" spiel.
I hit chapter 5 and was bored out of my mind.
Piglet is the most horrid nickname!
1.5x audio speed wasn't fast enough to drag through this cringe.

The blurb for this story caught my attention. It sounded like something my dark soul would appreciate. The sale price and narrators sold me on giving this book a try.

The idea behind the story was interesting. The author delves into certain aspects of psychology that are often misunderstood by the general public. Unfortunately, the execution of the story didn't quite work for me. I think the book could have used a bit more polish. The author told me about the characters, but I wanted the characters to tell me about themselves. I don't think this book worked well as first person. Telling a story about a psychopath is not the same as getting inside the head of a psychopath, and letting them tell the story.

The narration was well done, and I enjoyed both narrators voices. If you are looking for a dark anti-hero story with plenty of steamy scenes, this will be a good read/listen.

ā€œIā€™m a monster,ā€ he whispers brokenly. I give him my best cold-blooded smile. ā€œYou have no idea what a monster is, piglet.ā€

I love me a dark romance. This did not deliver. Let me explain why.

Point number one. One heavily reminded me of the Necessary Evils series by Onley James ā€” a found family of crazy brothers who kill bad people. Kind of been there, done that. The writing wasnā€™t good enough for me to overlook the similarities or to make me believe Iā€™ve never read these tropes before.

Numero dos. The characters werenā€™t all that likeable.
Raphael is way too over the top Alpha growly man, all mine mine mine, and it just got annoying after a while.
Michael doesnā€™t have much of a personality at all. Except for the blood kink, we donā€™t get to know much about him.
They were both very surface-level. I needed more angst, more deep-diving into their past.

Thirdly, the dialogues.
They were trying to come off as banter-y and fun, but to me just seemed overly forced and fake. All the brothers just kind of meshed together in my brain, making them even harder to follow.

My final, and worst for me, point.
The plot pretty much ended by the 60% mark. There was nothing more to look forward to, everything of interest had already happened.
The sex, the i-love-you and the I canā€™t love cuz *psychopath* but mine, the meeting of the bros, the gasp plot twist, the mini fight that was forgiven after some dicking. Boom, the story is done.
All that was left was the serial killer subplot, which honestly couldā€™ve been intriguing if the author had expanded on it a little, but it was completely overshadowed by all the meaningless dialogues and info-dumping.

I also agree with other reviewers. Piglet is a horrible pet name.

ā€œI named him Mr. Hottie while he choseā€¦ piglet?ā€

Holy dark vigilante, blood loving psychopaths! I absolutely loved this book and I devoured it like our psychopath devours his Michael. They were hot AF. Story starts out dark and stays pretty dark with some twisted dark humor in there. Totally up my alley but might not be for everyone, so heed the TWs. We get to start 20 years in the past with an entry about test subject One. Then we see Meg and Linda talking about saving the children. 20 years in the future, to present day. Meg and Linda took in 6 kids. This story centers around Raphael and Michael (not one of the 6 kids). Raph is a psychopath and heā€™s getting restless. Then he finds Michael. And Michael is his new focus. Michael is a forensic pathologist and medical examiner for the hospital. He is also friends with Meg, who he randomly met at the hospital after moving to Chicago. Raph saves Michael from a would be robber of a convenience store and attaches himself to Michael permanently. These two are hot together and incredibly sweet in their own way. They feel a pull to each other. They have a bond. One that goes well beyond the short time they know each other. The story is raw, gritty and very bloody. Itā€™s dark and twisted and funny. Lots of great banter between the characters, including the side characters. The family that kills together, stays together? Works for them. There were some grammatical errors and wrong words at times but that was easily overlooked. The sex was hot, the characters enjoyable. The plot had lots of action and twists. I devoured it.
