ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!! THIS BOOK IS NOT OK!! The sexualization of the 16 year old girl main character, a weird obsession with seeing her panties, having another boy character remove her underwear in her sleep, having her show her nude privates to an old man, having her talk about her bra size, implying older male characters are sexually fantasizing about her, having her repeatedly offer to lift her skirt to get favors from others IS UNACCEPTABLE!
I usually comment about the plot, pacing, character development and my overall rating. I am intentionally not going to do that with this book because the content is unacceptable. I’ve seen reviews with “well once you get past the sexualization and panty fetish…” NOPE. This content should not be endorsed. Normalizing the sexualization of children should not be encouraged. No excuses. I am disgusted with this author and anyone making excuses for this book. Absolutely not ok. There are plenty of other books out there. Do not support this series or author.

Definitely pervy but also came out like 40 years ago. Still pretty funny and the art is nice.
I have been wanting to revisit the 90s TV show for a long time.
Now that I found the love for reading manga, what better way to revisit this story than by reading the original manga in which the 90s anime was based?
It was great to meet these characters again.
Son Goku has the best of humanity in him.

Picked this up because it is one of my partner's fav childhood shows and I'm happy I did. I thought it was quite fun and I appreciated the humour. The story line didn't fully hook me in but that might be to do with how familiar I am with the story through the anime already.
I grew up watching Dragon Ball Z in the 90s/early 2000s and so I wanted to read the manga from the start.
The fact that there’s only one ‘male’ character who doesn’t come across pervy in this first volume isn’t ideal. (Pu’ar, and this very low bar made him my favourite character)
I love the premise and I’ll obviously continue with the series but I really hope there’s zero references to ‘panties’ from now on please

I kind of just lost interest. It wasn't really what I was expecting. Planning to try again at some point.

Some more nostalgia. I still remember how my brother picked up the first like five, or something, volumes of Dragon Ball at a flea market we'd went to with our mom. This was some of the first manga I'd ever seen.
Dragon Ball is honestly a classic, and I fully believe it deserves it's popularity for the most part. I'm not a fan of 16 year old Bulma exposing herself to old ass, gross as hell Kame Sennin, and I also know there's even more questionable stuff down the line. But still this series's got a special place in my heart.
